Lester E. Kealy 1910-2001 Lester E. Kealy, age 90, died Thursday afternoon at the St. John's Center where he has been a resident since March 13, 2000. Lester was born November 25,1910 on a farm near St. Edward, Neb. to George T. and Mabel (Preble) Kealy. He graduated from St. Edward High School in 1930 and married Olga B. Linnerson on December 11, 1932 in Genoa, Neb. Lester and Olga moved to Kearney in 1942 and Lester was a truck driver for Safeway and then was employed as a supervisor at the Kearney Airbase during World War II. He then worked as a truck driver for Brown Transfer for 32 years until be retired in 1968. Following his retirement he worked as a custodian at Lincoln Equipment Company and then at the Kearney Junior High School. Lester was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Teamsters Union #554 and the Kearney Lions Club. Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Jeanine Goedert of Kearney; one son, Richard "Dick" Kealy of Waterloo, Iowa; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Elwood Kealy of Sutherland, Neb. Lester was preceded in death by his wife Olga on October 12, 2000, his parents, one son, Merle on July 3, 1953, four brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 6 at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Jer Gilbreath officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary and until service time Tuesday morning at the Church.. Memorials are planned to the St. John's Center. Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
