1921 Torch Yearbook
Junior High
Home
The Junior
High School, composed of the seventh, eighth, and ninth
grades, is a very important institution in our school
system. The organization this year has the largest
enrollment in the history of the school, 107 people, 57 of
whom are in the Freshman class.
Throughout the
year, the Junior High School has loyally supported the
school activities and worked hard for the best interest of
the school. We were represented in nearly all the school
organizations. Millard Franz, Clare Dorwart, Lloyd Teale,
and Dell Gilmore were substitutes on the football team, and
Clare, Lloyd, Dell, and Thomas Campbell were basketball
substitutes this year. One of our members, Alfred Foreman,
was on the stock-judging team, which won fifth place in the
state contest. There is splendid debating and musical
material in these grades.
Two very
successful picnics, one held in October at Beaver Crossing,
and one this spring at Turkey Creek, provided the social
events of the year.
Taking
everything into consideration, the Junior High School shows
promise of making a record that will exceed Friend High
School's former glory in both athletics and scholarship.
